Youth Ministries

At Saint Andrew Christian Church we have two youth groups. The Chi Rho group is for young persons in grades 6, 7 and 8. Young persons in grades 9 through 12 are a part of our Saint Andrew Youth (SAY) group. Youth Sunday School teachers approach lessons with the goal of relating Biblical lessons to daily life.

Our youth are active in church leadership - providing musical leadership, serving in worship, teaching younger children in the nursery and Children's Church. Twice each year - during Advent and in the Spring - our youth prepare and lead a complete worship service.

They are also active in the life of our denomination - Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Our youth serve in leadership positions on the Regional Youth Cabinet and participate in regional youth retreats and Tall Oaks Camp events.

Mission projects are important to our youth and this is evident in their participation in several mission projects each year. Local efforts include support for the Migrant Farmworker Project, Temporary Lodging for Children and Families (TLC), and the Micah Ministry of Independence Boulevard Christian Church. In addition, each summer SAY embarks on a week-long mission trip to offer helping hands to sister churches or charitable organizations. Chi Rho also takes a summer mission trip of three to four days, for service and fun!

Summer camps is also an important part of our youth ministry at Saint Andrew Christian Church. Our children and youth attend camp at Tall Oaks Conference Center, a short 30 minute drive from Saint Andrew. Saint Andrew’s mission committee offers scholarship funds to all Saint Andrew children and youth.

Chi Rho

The Chi Rho group (grades 6-8) meets every Sunday morning from 9:30 to 10:20 a.m. in Room 203. In addition, they meet most Sunday afternoons from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. This is a time of food, fun, games, singing and lively discussion.

In Sunday School our Chi Rho youth crafted the following acrostic poem to describe what it means to live their lives with Integrity. It's a good recipe for all of us to follow!

INTEGRITY MEANS:
Interest in Others
Not hurting People
Trustworthy
Encouraging
Gratitude
Right Thing
Insightful
Thoughtful
Your Faith (as in it takes faith to act with Integrity; and having Integrity is a way to show your faith)

Saint Andrew Youth (SAY)

The SAY group (grades 9-12) meet every Sunday morning from 9:30 to 10:20 a.m.in the Youth Room, located on the lower level. They also gather with the Chi Rho youth on Sunday afternoons from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. to share in a time of food, fun, games, singing and lively discussion.
